Elliot Page was born on February 21, 1987, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to graphic artist Dennis Page and teacher Martha Philpotts.
He was born with a female gender assignment, and before transitioning, he went by the name Ellen.

Page spent some time at Queen Elizabeth High School after attending Halifax Grammar School up until the 10th grade.
Together with her close friend and fellow Canadian actor Mark Rendall, Elliot Page spent two years in Toronto after graduating from the Shambhala School in 2005. They were both enrolled in the Interact Program at Vaughan Road Academy.

Following the popularity of “Pit Pony,” Elliot Page was cast in the same-named television spin-off series, which ran from 1999 to 2000. He received a Young Artist Award nomination for his performance.
He made an appearance in the 2002 movie “Marion Bridge” and was given a role in the TV show “Trailer Park Boys” as Treena Lahey, who appeared in five episodes.
