The rules state: “Players shall not at any time physically abuse any official, opponent, spectator or another person within the precincts of the tournament site. Violation of this section shall subject a player to a fine up to [$30,000] for each violation.” [1] • Disqualified for hitting a line judge: On 6 September 2020, he was disqualified in the U.S. Open fourth round after he hit a line judge with a ball following a point during the first set of his match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta. [2] • Australia cancelled his visa: On 5 January 2022, soon aftre he arrived in Melbourne from Dubai to participate at the Australian Open, his visa was cancelled by the Australian government. According to the Australian Border Force, Djokovic failed to provide appropriate evidence to meet the entry requirements to Australia. The develeopment came after Djokovic claimed thbat he had medical exemption to play at the Australian Open; however, the the Australian Border Force found that his medical exdemption was not appropriate, and he used a forged visa to enter the country. In a statement, the Australian Border Force said, “Non-citizens who do not hold a valid visa on entry or who have had their visa cancelled will be detained and removed from Australia.” Djokovic had not spoken about his vaccination status, and in 2021, he said that he was “opposed to vaccination.” [3] On 10 January 2022, he won the court case when Australian Circuit Court Judge Anthony Kelly reinstated him and ordered the government to release Djokovic from Melbourne hotel quarantine within 30 minutes of his decision. In his argument, Djokovic said that he did not require to get himself vaccinatwed because he had been infected with the coronavirus last month, i.e., in December 2021. [4] On 14 January 2022, the Australian government cancelled Djokovic’s visa for a second time when Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke exercised his discretionary powers to revoke his visa. He said, “Today I exercised my power under section 133C(3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr. Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so.” [5] On 16 January 2022, three Federal Court judges decided unanimously to affirm the immigration minister’s right to cancel Djokovic’s visa, and he was deported from Australia.
